The story of this little shop is one of love, family, unlikely dreams, and many adventures along the way.

My name is Hannah, one-half of our shop team owners. Back in 2013, Bob Drury had a dream: open a small neighborhood coffee shop filled to the brim with tropical charm, bright colors, a view of the ocean, and  the best service around.  There was only one problem.. he envisioned the whole thing in Costa Rica. 

Down here from Oregon, he "settled" for beautiful San Diego, still determined to create his oasis dream. He carved his little slice in a pocket of Clairemont with a windwo to the sea. We met 6 months into his adventure. I was hired not on merit but beacuse he liked my hat that particular day. What started as a part time job in my early 20's became the constant in my life over the next 8 years. Through school, moves, more school and a baby girl I was still here. I had a mentor for a boss, some of the closest friends I've ever worked with, and an amazing community full of regulars that became like family. 

In 2021, I was offered the honor of purchasing Clairemont Coffee upon Bob's retirement to Hawaii. While I was grateful for the opportunity my husband and I were hesitant to assume this undertaking. It was, you know, the middle of a global pandemic. 

A casual Tuesday dinner conversation with my sister-in-law changed everything. She pushed through my reservations. To this day, her determination and practical approach continues to balance me out at each turn. We returned to the table. With the support and faith of our families (did I mention this was in the middle of a pandemic?), we moved through each moment with more ease than I ever could have imagined. It was, as they say, meant to be. 

Here we are, 3 years later! We are full-fledged businesswomen. We have an amazing staff and that same community who supported me all these years continues to cheer us on through this journey. Changes, transitions, growing pains and all. 

Our little shop on the hill is built on dreams, love, family, and, in my opinion, a little bit of magic. We are committed to working harder each day than the one before. To be a place where people can connect, be supported, feel inspired, and always enjoy a great cup of coffee.
